After completing the course, the student has the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge
Students
- have knowledge of key organizational and management theories and historical development.
- have knowledge of organizations and their environment, stakeholders, and external factors.
- have knowledge of the forms of collaboration in organizations, mergers and acquisitions.
- have knowledge of the basics of individual and teams in organizations, motivation theory, and attitude.
- have knowledge of key ethical challenges in management and organization and how to develop sustainable management, incl. knowledge of Hauge's management thinking and practice.
- have knowledge of the role and functions of manager in connection with the theory of leadership in organizations
- have knowledge of the decision-making and business processes in organizations.
- have knowledge of the organizational culture, organizational structure and design.
- know what organizational development is and how to assess the effectiveness and success of organizations.
Skills
Students
- can apply in practice key organizational and management theories.
- can determine what stakeholders the organization has and what external factors can affect the organization.
- can choose the most appropriate form of cooperation, merger or acquisition for the organization.
- can handle central interpersonal processes, such as: cooperation, communication, and social awareness.
- can reflect and learn from activities participated in, which aim to develop interpersonal skills.
- are able to identify challenges related to the interaction between individual and group in an organizational context, and the ability to present these to others in an analytical and reflective way.
- can write about, summarize in writing and orally and present orally central organizational and management topics in a good and academically correct manner.
- can select appropriate organizational culture, organizational structure and design for organizations.
